Stephanie Ang is currently undertaking a Bachelor of Engineering and a Bachelor of Commerce.
Stephanie majors in Electrical and Computer Systems, which covers a broad range of topics from electronics to telecommunications to programming and everything in between. Stephanie’s interest in this branch of engineering was developed from high school when she did work experience with a power company.
“I feel it is especially important to engage fully with engineering and to find which areas of study you find most rewarding to be able to foster that interest in the future.”
Stephanie is involved with the Monash Community in other ways beside study.
“In first year I was offered the chance to be part of the Leadership in a Technological Environment program, and I have found this to be an invaluable supplement to my studies. I have also been an ambassador for Monash on several occasions, including Open day, Change of Preference Day and scholarship events.”
For Stephanie, engineering seemed a logical step from maths and science in secondary school.
“I’d always wanted to challenge myself in university, and the marriage of theory and creativity in engineering problem solving really appealed to me. I find engineering particularly valuable in the way it pushes me to think about problems in new ways.”
Stephanie is also doing an exchange semester in the UK and hopes for it to be a highlight of her time as an undergraduate. She currently is undecided between doing further study and going straight into the workforce.
