What is engineering?
'Engineer' literally means 'to make things happen'. Engineers are inventors; they convert science knowledge into technology, and then convert technology into successful innovation.
Engineers have forged some of the greatest advances for the welfare of civilisation, over the past century.
- Clean water, removal of waste, advances in medical equipment and the increased quality of food supplies are all a result of engineering
There are examples of engineering in all aspects of everyday life.
- Health, transport, medicine, aerospace, telecommunication systems, infrastructure, mobile phones, the internet and digital television are just a few examples of engineering in modern society
The Engineer's aim is a simple and noble one: to improve the quality of life for everyone on our planet. Engineers are building our future, today.
